“2018 Love the Forest and the Community project” invites community forests nationwide to join the contest program, with a chance to win the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Trophy

The Royal Forest Department (RFD), in partnership with Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited (RATCH), invites communities nationwide to participate in the ‘Love the Forest and the Community’ contest program under the “sustainable community forests for the benefit of communities” concept. This program aims at selecting the best practice community forests having plentiful forest resources, with strong community participation in forest management, conservation and development for sustainability to be a role model of other community forests.

For this contest, there were 144 prizes in total, with a total value of 3.1 million baht. The prizes can be divided into: the national community forest that will be granted the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Trophy and a 200,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund, Three runner up community forest prizes that will be granted an honorary plaque, certificate and a 100,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund, four regional community forest prizes that will be granted an honorary plaque, certificate and a 30,000-baht Community Forest Fund, 66 provincial model community forest awards will be granted an honorary plaque, certificate and a 25,000-baht support fund and 66 consolation prizes that will be granted a 10,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund. In addition, the program has an annual special award, the outstanding community forest for “biodiversity management for sustainable development” award. The winner for this category will get an honorary plaque, certificate and a 100,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund. Meanwhile, three runner up community forest prizes for this category will be granted a 25,000-baht Community Forest Conservation fund.

Interested community forests that would like to join “Klayim” network for sustainable forest resource conservation can ask for and sent application form until April 15, 2018 at “Forest Resource Management offices nationwide.” Also, the application form can be downloaded from the RFD website: www.forest.go.th.
